Campus Activities Student Affairs Certification
This certification is designed exclusively for campus activities specialists who are mid-level and above, as well as student affairs educators looking to transition into campus activities specialist and senior-level roles.
Developed by NACA subject matter experts and built upon the foundation of student affairs educator certification, it is a specialty credential for demonstrating continuous learning and competencies essential to success in the complex and evolving landscape of campus activities work.
The campus activities certification was built upon the foundation of the core student affairs educator certification content. The core student affairs educator certification is then a required prerequisite for this specialty certification. Eligible applicants may take the core and specialty assessments concurrent to each other. Certificants currently holding the core credential may also apply for this speciality certification at a separate, later date.
- Mid-level student affairs educators and above
- Both educators with a master’s degree and those with extensive work experience in student affairs/services
- Eligibility requirements are the same for both core and speciality student affairs educator certifications. The core certification is a prerequisite for all specialties.
Maintaining Certification and Recertification
Certification includes demonstrating competencies and knowledge, as well as dedication to ongoing learning. Student affairs work is complex and regularly changing. Certified student affairs educators are expected to engage in continuing education about new and emerging trends in the field. Recertification occurs every five years. It involves demonstrating the minimal amount of continuing education credits and ethical practice.
